License Renewal Cycle Time for Alabama (MDs/DOs):

  • State licenses in Alabama are due annually, by December 31 of each year.

Board Rule Checklist: Alabama Board of Medical Examiners & Medical Licensure Commission (MDs/DOs): 

  • Complete 25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits 
    • Due: annually, by December 31 of each year
  • Read the Board rules Chapter 540-X-14 concerning CME 
    • Due: annually, by December 31 of each year
  • If you have achieved ABMS member board certification and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) within the last 6 years: 
  • You do not have to complete the 25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits requirement, nor are you required to read the Board rules Chapter 540-X-14
