License Renewal Cycle Time for Illinois

  • Illinois physician assistant state licenses must be renewed on March 1st of every even-numbered year. 
    • For example: If you renew your license on March 1st of 2020, your next renewal date would be March 1st of 2022.

Board Rule Checklist: State of Illinois (PA)

  • Complete 50 hours of CE 
    • Due date: Every 2 years at license renewal 
  • Of the 50 hours of CE, complete a minimum of 25 Category 1 CME 
    • Due date: Every 2 years at license renewal 
  • Of the 50 hours of CE, complete a minimum of 1 hour in a CE course in sexual harassment prevention training 
    • Due date: Every 2 years at license renewal 
  • If you have a controlled substance registration:
    • Of the 50 hours of CE, complete a minimum of 3 hours of CE on safe opioid prescribing practices 
      • Due date: Every 2 years at license renewal
    • Of the 50 hours of CE, complete a minimum of 10 hours of CE in pharmacology 
      • Due date: Every 2 years at license renewal
